My day to day, like many others is filled with notifications, emails, phone calls and the urge to constantly check my phone. Finding time to “breathe” has almost seemed impossible - so two weeks ago I started meditating & It’s made a world of a difference.

6:45 AM Call Time:

I used to have that alarm that sounded like an emergency vehicle alarm was going off. Imagine sleeping peacefully for 7 hours, and then BOOM emergency vehicle noise in your ear at 6:45 AM… that doesn’t set the tone for a good morning if you ask me 😅 That was the first thing I changed, now it is set to the “reflection” ring tone - which is a lot more calm and peaceful to wake up too!

Instead of opening my eyes and immediately reaching for my phone, I do not go on my phone until I arrive at my co-working space - it typically takes me an hour from waking up, until I leave and arrive at the office.

Meditating:

I decided to set a realistic goal for myself, 3 minutes of meditating every morning for the first week. That doesn’t sound like much, but for someone who has never meditated before it was a good start! This 3 minutes allowed me to focus on my breathing, relax my body, let go of tension & setting my intentions for a mentally clear and intentional day ahead.

Week 2:

This morning was the start of week 2 of meditation. By Friday I felt very confident in the 3 minute time block, so I increased it to 5 minutes. Adding those 2 extra minutes really allowed me to dive deeper into the experience - I felt myself slipping around 3:30 minutes (I’m assuming) but I was able to redirect my focus to my breathing, and get back in tune with my thoughts & emotions. My brain seems a lot less “cluttered” this morning!

Week 3:

Next week will be my third week of meditation and I really want to push my boundaries even further. I will be increasing from 5 minutes to 10 minutes! Im curious to see what that additional 5 minutes does for me. As I’ve increased I’ve been able to dive deeper into my feelings so I’m sure 10 minutes will be fun! I will keep you all posted if these things interest you!

Things I’ve Noticed Since Meditating:

  1. Mental Clarity

  2. Reduced Anxiety

  3. Enhanced Focus

  4. Less Tense
